Give-A-Kid-A-Book

Give-A-Kid-A-Book is an annual campaign to collect and distribute new books to low income kids for the December holidays. The effort is coordinated by the Friends of the Brown County Library

Why is it important?

Literacy is vital to a child’s scholastic success, yet in Brown County, 73% of our students are not reading at grade level in 3rd grade.

So what can be done to change that statistic? Last year over 5,000 disadvantaged children living in Brown County were given new books through the Give-A-Kid-A-Book Campaign coordinated by the Friends of Brown County Library. Your donation of a new book will make a difference this holiday season!

In 2021, over 12,000 books were collected from corporate and individual donors.  Most of these books were distributed to thousands of local children during the holidays. The remaining books find their way into the hands of kids in the community through various Brown County programs that promote reading year round.

Thank You!

The Friends of the Brown County Library would like to gratefully acknowledge the following 2023 sponsors:

Their generous donations are a wonderful statement of their commitment and support for the importance of books in children’s lives. Thank you!
