UntitledTown Presents!

Poetry Workshop with Cujo

A Program for National Poetry Month

Saturday, April 13

1:00-2:30 at the Central Library (Pine Room)

Cujo wears many hats, including host of the long-standing poetry open mic "Spoken Word Nights” and youth and adult educator teaching expressive writing.  But poetry has a special place in his heart, and helping people to better understand it - and write it - has become a passion.

Blending styles of Hip-Hop and Slam Poetry, Cujo's "heart-on-your-sleeve" approach to songwriting has been winning fans over to the genre for a decade - and it earned him the title of Wisconsin's Hip-Hop/Rap Artist of the Year (WAMI, 2023).

Workshop description:

Learn strategies and tools for writing short and long-form poetry, how to find inspiration in your life experience, and how to transform what you have written into something people will resonate with! What makes reading poetry different from "Spoken Word"? One key element is feeling. Spoken Word is about bringing poetry to life through emphasis, intonation, inflection...for lack of a better word - performance!
